Cool and unusual discoveries, Chemistry, Technological advances in medicine
- Ing Wei has been interested in science and writing since she was 7 years old. She recreated experiments that she learned in school in her family's kitchen and kept a gossipy journal from ages 8 to 12 that her siblings were banned from reading (naturally, they read it right away!).
- She really enjoys following the breadcrumbs when delving into the data behind a scientific discovery.
- Her goal as a writer is to make any scientific concept, no matter how complex, easy to understand.
Experience
Ing Wei has written about science and medicine for the National University of Singapore, where she worked for seven years. She covered a variety of topics, ranging from COVID-19 to tailoring treatments for patients based on their biology. She is now a healthcare copywriter, creating marketing pieces about treatments for inflammatory diseases for pharmaceutical companies. Regardless of the scientific topic, she enjoys reading about new discoveries and describing why they are cool to other people, including those who may not normally read about science. Her goal as a writer is to get readers excited about science and nature.
Education
Ing Wei has a bachelor's degree in zoology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master's degree in marine science from the College of William and Mary. She also holds a doctorate from The Scripps Research Institute, where she focused on the study of viruses.
